UN Women Empowers Women Entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan with Groundbreaking Expo
UN Women orchestrated the Women’s Entrepreneurship Satellite EXPO 2023 in Astana, Kazakhstan, drawing together a powerful assembly of over 60 women entrepreneurs on October 27. This dynamic event served as a nexus for networking, fostering partnerships, and propelling businesses to new heights.
A pivotal highlight of the expo was the selection of ten startups, identified for their potential in critical sectors such as healthcare, quality management, finance, IT, social entrepreneurship, and ecology. This strategic move aims to amplify the impact of women-led ventures in these key domains.
Participants actively engaged in four online workshops covering essential facets of business planning, effective pricing strategies, branding, product packaging, and navigating the digital marketing landscape. The workshops acted as a knowledge hub, equipping entrepreneurs with the skills needed to navigate the contemporary business landscape.
The significance of women’s entrepreneurship and innovation took centre stage, as Yulia Mironova, the visionary founder of the eControl project, emphasized the profound impact of women bringing their innovative ideas to the forefront. Mironova articulated the growing success of woman-led projects and lauded the event’s strategic positioning in Kazakhstan.
Aizhan Anuarova, presenting the Paidax platform for investments, shared her positive experience, highlighting the valuable feedback received from the jury. Her sentiments resonated with the overarching belief at the expo that women can be both successful and innovative contributors to the economy, dismantling outdated gender norms.
Looking ahead, the competition outcomes will see the selection of five projects from each country in the region. Subsequently, mentors will be assigned to provide tailored support through workshops from January to March 2024, preparing participants for pitching. The climax of this transformative journey will unfold at the Expo Capital Quest in Istanbul in 2024, where two entrepreneurs from each country will seize the opportunity to present their businesses to a global audience of investors.
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Satellite EXPO 2023 not only marks a significant stride in fostering women-led businesses but also signifies a concerted effort to break down gender stereotypes, paving the way for a more inclusive and empowering entrepreneurial landscape.
