Mile High Holiday Mart Celebrates 44 Years as a Denver Tradition
The Mile High Holiday Mart returned to the University of Denver’s campus, reaffirming its status as a cherished Denver tradition. Steering this annual extravaganza is Caryne Mesquita, the event’s chair, who proudly emphasizes its enduring presence in the city.
This three-day celebration doubles as a platform for over 130 vendors, a majority of them new and locally rooted in Colorado. A significant aspect of this holiday shopping bonanza is its commitment to supporting local businesses, offering a vibrant array of handmade arts, crafts, and jewellery that diverge from mainstream online offerings.
Among the standout vendors is “Two Sistah’s Eat’s,” a local gem specializing in flavoured corn puffs, adding a unique touch to holiday gifting. However, the significance of the Mile High Holiday Mart extends beyond commerce. Participants, including both vendors and visitors, actively contribute to uplifting women in the metro area, aligning with the event’s mission.
This impactful mission is further propelled by the proceeds from ticket sales and vendor applications, funnelling support into the Junior League of Denver. The league’s noble objective is to train women as civic leaders and community volunteers, striving to disrupt systemic poverty.
Noteworthy initiatives include free access for veterans, DU students, staff, and those contributing unwrapped toys to the Together For Colorado Toy Drive. Mesquita underscores the profound community impact, emphasizing that each purchase at the Holiday Mart bolsters local businesses and advances the overarching mission of empowering women.
In a testament to its community focus, CBS News Colorado proudly stands as a partner in this endeavour, fortifying the event’s commitment to making a difference. The Mile High Holiday Mart emerges not only as a shopping extravaganza but as a beacon of community support and empowerment, embodying the spirit of the festive season.
